In the present competitive economies the learning and development is identified as a heart of the organizations. In other words in an ever changing and fast paced corporate world, training and development is an indispensable function. Its seek continues growth and improvement in their business context. Training and development is one of the lowest things on the priority list of most companies. When it's organized, it is often at the persistence of the human resources department.Training allows employees to acquire new skills, sharpen existing ones, perform better, increase productivity and be better leaders. Since a company is the sum total of what employees achieve individually, organizations.

According to (Armstrong, 2001; Craig, 1987).Employee training and development has emerged as a major educational enterprise over the past three decades. This increase is associated with a demand in the workplace for employee at all levels to improve performance in their present jobs to acquire skills and knowledge to do new jobs, and to continue their career progress in a changing world of work.

Difference between training and development

Training is a short-term reactive process meant for operatives and process while development is designed continuous pro-active process meant for executives. In training employees' aim is to develop additional skills and in development, it is to develop a total personality. On the other hand In training, the initiative is taken by the management with the objective of meeting the present need of an employee. In development, initiative is taken by the individual with the objective to meet the future need o fan employee.


At this present pandemic situation is a biggest challenge for all organization. Specially retail business context is facing so many challenges in the field process. Some companies and some business can work like work from home concept but in retail business it’s not possible. Sales force is to work in front line therefore some employees leaved their jobs. So this is a biggest trouble to the organization and human resource department as well. Therefore organizations to be followed some training methods to keep employees skills and knowledge without barriers. As are follow.

Walter Burke Barbe and colleagues proposed three learning modalities

  1. Visual modality
  2. Auditory modality
  3. Kinesthetic modality


Barbe and colleagues reported that learning modality strengths can occur independently or in combination (although the most frequent modality strengths, according to their research, are visual or mixed), they can change over time, and they become integrated with age.They also pointed out that learning modality strengths are different from preferences; a person's self-reported modality preference may not correspond to their empirically measured modality strength .


According to the above mentioned theories and details trainings and developments are playing major role in an organization. Specially in retail business contest human resource management need to conduct several trainings to keep their employees in an efficiency manner.
