Challenges in employee Recruitment and selections

Definition

“Recruitment is the process of searching the candidates for employment and stimulating them to apply for jobs in the organization”.It is the process of creating a group of qualified candidates for vacancies within organizations. In other words, recruitment is a selection process done for hiring the right person into the workforce or organization. it’s a overall process of identifying, attracting, screening, shortlisting, and interviewing, suitable candidates for jobs (either permanent or temporary) within an organization.

According to (Plumbley, 1990) Effective Recruitment policies and practices are recognized as making a significant contribution to an organization’s success. It is not simply about placing suitable candidates into jobs, it is also about building and developing a flexible and adept workforce to suit the organization’s changing and demanding needs .

Recruitment methods

  1. Internal Recruitments Recruit people who are already working in the organization. The HR people publish the circular on notice board and online portal to invite the deserving employees to participate in the interview via they can also upgrade their position level and avail their career growth. In this case, employees refer their resume personally and sometimes by their internal communication portal
  2. External Recruitments - Recruit from other organization/company/institute or fresh graduate people

Five stages of the recruitment process

  1. Recruitment Planning

  2. Strategy Development

  3. Searching

  4.  Screening

  5. Evaluation

Four stages the recruitment and selection process as mentioned below.

  1. Defining recruitment -  Preparing job role and specifications, deciding terms and conditions of employment.
  2. Planning and recruitment campaigns - Organizing/planning campaigns to find suitable candidates

  3. Attracting candidates - Evaluate the alternative sources of applicants, advertising, e-recruiting.

  4. Selecting Candidates - Interviewing, testing, shifting applications, offering employment, obtaining references, preparing contracts for employment.

Major challenges and how to over come from those challenges.

In present competitive economies recruitment is not an easy task for all organizations. It's easy to recruit people or heads but in a efficiency recruitment process is a highly challenging for human resource managers.
Example :-
  • Attracting the right candidates

  • Engaging qualified candidates

  • Hiring fast

  • Using data-driven recruitment

  • Building a strong employer brand

  • Ensuring a good candidate experience

  • Recruiting fairly

Smart human resource managers will overcome from those challenges, but unfortunately all human resource managers aren't smart managers. Some examples are as follow.
  • Build a talent pool

  • Train hiring teams

  • Diversify the  recruiting strategies-Social media network etc...
